HCS Elementary Teachers

Early K    Mrs. Heidi Bacon

This is Mrs. Bacon's first year teaching at HCS, however she is a very familiar face.  She graduated from HCS and has four boys who are enrolled as well.  She has an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Glen Oaks Community College.  She has over 15 years experience working with kids in Early K, Pre-K and in-home daycare. 


Kindergarten    Mrs. Debbie Fosdick

Mrs. Fosdick has taught at HCS for the past 16 years, after teaching at Faith Baptist Academy in Mattawan for 7 years.  Mrs. Fosdick is a graduate Hyles Anderson College in Indiana with a degree in elementary education.  Mrs. Fosdick likes working at HCS because of her love of seeing the children grow and develop into fine young ladies and gentlemen.

First Grade     Miss Julie Hitchcock

Miss Hitchcock graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelors in education.  She has enjoyed teaching at HCS for 16 years.  Her love for HCS is that she is able to share about the Lord and His goodness, as well as give a sound education to the students in an environment of love and caring.

Second Grade    Miss Nikki Parks

HCS alumni, Miss Parks graduated from Cornerstone University.  This is her first year teaching in our second grade classroom.  Prior to second grade, she assisted in the Early K class and taught secondary history and health.  Miss Parks also enjoys coaching our varsity volleyball team.

Third Grade    Mrs. Christy Nagel

Mrs. Nagel  is a graduate of Calvin College.   This is her 3rd year teaching our third grade students.  Before having her  5 children, Mrs. Nagel taught at Howardsville back in the '90's.  She is happy to be back here.

Fourth Grade    Miss Brenda DeVries

Miss DeVries received her degree in elementary education from Hyles Anderson College after a year of Bible education at Word of Life Bible Institute.  She first taught at Faith Christian School in Mattawan for 14 years, and has been at HCS for fourteen years.  She has this to say about her years of service at HCS, “I love teaching here at HCS because of the family atmosphere.”

Fifth Grade    Mrs. Patty Evans

Mrs. Evans graduated from Howardsville Christian School in 1998.  She graduated from Western Michigan University with an Elementary Education degree, and has taught at Heritage Christian Academy.  Mrs. Evans and her husband Brandon (HCS class of '98) have 3 children in our school.

Mr. Tyler Bishop


Mr. Bishop graduated from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Mr. Bishop graduated HCS in 2010 and returned last year to teach. He currently teaches Spanish and is also the school's Athletic Director. He says, "It is a tremendous honor to be able to serve at a school that has impacted my life in so many ways. It is a blessing to encourage students both in the classroom and on the playing field. There is nothing better than helping students learn another language and motivating them to grow in their walk with Christ."

Mrs. Teri Jones


Mrs. Jones attended Taylor University and Western Michigan University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  Mrs. Jones taught two years in the Sturgis public schools and began teaching at Howardsville Christian School in 2001.  She says “I love working at HCS because the students and staff are such a blessing to work with every day.  I also enjoy the freedom to share my faith every day in every lesson that I teach.”

Mrs. Paula Fund

Mrs. Fund is a first year teacher at HCS.  She teaches secondary math and science classes.  She graduated from Mid America Nazarene College with a Bachelor's of Arts in Chemistry and a minor in Mathematics.  She has 3 children and her family attends Three Rivers Bible Church.

Mrs. Shelley Cline

Mrs. Cline has been involved at HCS as a parent, coach and now on staff.  She received her Bachelor's Degree from Western Michigan University and teaches secondary English.  She is also the Junior Class and Student Council advisor.


Administrative Staff

Administrator  - Mr. David Nelson

Mr. Nelson graduated from Spring Arbor College with a B.A. in English and a minor in History and obtained his Master of Science in Education from Indiana University.  He most recently taught at Granger Christian for 9 years before coming to HCS.  This is his second season as the head coach of the varsity soccer team.  He teaches Personal Finance and Government/Economics and on Friday nights you can catch him playing his trumpet in the HCS Pep Band.


Administrative Assistant - Mrs. Loralee Muldoon

Mrs. Muldoon received her Bachelors of Business Administration from Western Michigan University and an Associate’s Degree in Information Processing from Grace College.  Mrs. Muldoon graduated from HCS is 1998, where she was active in volleyball, basketball and soccer.  She has three kids who currently attend HCS.


Business Manager - Mrs. Kathy Rose 

Mrs. Rose attended Davenport University where she obtained her Associates Degree.  She has worked at HCS for the past 12 years and her 2 children are HCS graduates.  She and her husband Ken attend Three Rivers Bible Church.
