HCS Elementary Teachers

K-4    Mrs. Pat Nash

Mrs. Nash has taught at HCS fin our in K-4 and as a second grade teacher.  She is a graduate of Concordia University and has a BA in education with an endorsement as kindergarten and pre-school specialist.  Of her experience teaching at HCS Mrs. Nash has this to say, “God has truly blessed my life with the students and my fellow colleagues.  Everyone wants every child to succeed, but more importantly, wants every child to know Jesus as their Savior.”

Kindergarten    Mrs. Debbie Fosdick

Mrs. Fosdick has taught at HCS for the past 16 years, after teaching at Faith Baptist Academy in Mattawan for 7 years.  Mrs. Fosdick is a graduate Hyles Anderson College in Indiana with a degree in elementary education.  Mrs. Fosdick likes working at HCS because of her love of seeing the children grow and develop into fine young ladies and gentlemen.

First Grade     Miss Julie Hitchcock

Miss Hitchcock graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelors in education.  She has enjoyed teaching at HCS for 16 years.  Her love for HCS is that she is able to share about the Lord and His goodness, as well as give a sound education to the students in an environment of love and caring.

Second Grade    Miss Anna Sutton

Miss Sutton received her B.A. in Elementary Education from Appalachian Bible College and her Master's Degree from Geneva College.  This will be her fourth year at HCS.  Miss Sutton loves teaching, and is excited for the summer to end and the students to be back in the classroom.


Third Grade    Mrs. Christy Nagel

Mrs. Nagel  is a graduate of Calvin College.   This is her second year teaching our third grade students.  Before having her  5 children, Mrs. Nagel taught at Howardsville back in the '90's.  She is happy to be back here.

Fourth Grade    Miss Brenda DeVries

Miss DeVries received her degree in elementary education from Hyles Anderson College after a year of Bible education at Word of Life Bible Institute.  She first taught at Faith Christian School in Mattawan for 14 years, and has been at HCS for fourteen years.  She has this to say about her years of service at HCS, “I love teaching here at HCS because of the family atmosphere.”

Fifth Grade    Mrs. Patty Evans

Mrs. Evans graduated from Howardsville Christian School in 1998.  She graduated from Western Michigan University with an Elementary Education degree, and has taught at Heritage Christian Academy.  Mrs. Evans and her husband Brandon (HCS class of '98) have 3 children in our school.  


Mrs. Jennifer Millard

Mrs. Millard graduated from Appalachian Bible College with a degree in elementary education.  She came to HCS after teaching 5 years at Factoryville Christian School.  Mrs. Millard has this to say about Howardsville Christian School, “Howardsville is a loving, caring atmosphere that keeps the student’s needs (heart and mind) first.”

Mr. Brandon Jones

Mr. Jones is a recent graduate of Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana with a degree in Biblical Education with a minor in Pedagogy.  Mr. Jones is also a 2011 graduate of H.C.S.  and we welcome him back.  His passion is to see our students grow in their spiritual walk and to become involved in the school activities.  We thank the Lord for bringing Mr. Jones back as our Bible teacher.

Mr. Tyler Bishop

Mr. Bishop recently graduated from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Mr. Bishop graduated HCS in 2010 and returned last year to teach. He currently teaches Spanish and is also the school's Athletic Director. He says, "It is a tremendous honor to be able to serve at a school that has impacted my life in so many ways. It is a blessing to encourage students both in the classroom and on the playing field. There is nothing better than helping students learn another language and motivating them to grow in their walk with Christ."

Mrs. Caren Jacobs

Mrs. Jacobs has taught at Gull Lake High School, Three Rivers Middle School and Three Rivers High School.  She received her BA in Secondary Education from Western Michigan University; major in Mathematics Education and Minor in Biology Education.  She received her MA in Masters in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College.  Mrs. Jacobs enjoys teaching math and also desires to teach her students the importance of following Christ and defending their faith.

Mrs. Teri Jones

Mrs. Jones attended Taylor University and Western Michigan University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  Mrs. Jones taught two years in the Sturgis public schools and began teaching at Howardsville Christian School in 2001.  She says “I love working at HCS because the students and staff are such a blessing to work with every day.  I also enjoy the freedom to share my faith every day in every lesson that I teach.”

Miss Nikki Parks

Miss Parks graduated from Cornerstone University.  She will be assisting in our early K class, and teaching secondary history and health.  She is also coaching our varsity volleyball.  Miss Parks is a graduate of H.C.S., class of 2011.
